Composition and Analysis

Penstrep-400 LA – Procaine Pen G, Benzathine Pen G and Dihydrostreptomycin injection solution

Ingredients (in 1 ml)

  • Penicillin G procaine salt – 100,000 IU (IU)

  • Penicillin G benzathine salt – 100,000 IU (IU)

  • Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate - 200 mg

Description

Penstrep-400 LA – is a combined antibacterial drug with a broad spectrum of action.

  • Penicillin G procaine and benzathine salts It has a bactericidal effect mainly against gram-positive bacteria: Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Listeria spp., Staphylococcus spp. (non-penicillinase producing), Streptococcus spp.

  • Dihydrostreptomycin – belongs to the aminoglycoside group and is mainly effective against gram-negative bacteria: E. coli, Campylobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp.

Thus, these components complement each other and in some cases enhance the effect.

Instructions for use

Penstrep-400 LA It is used in cattle (including calves), sheep, goats and pigs in the following cases:

  • Arthritis

  • Mastitis

  • Gastrointestinal infections

  • Respiratory tract infections

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., E. coli, Erysipelothrix spp., Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Listeria spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. in diseases caused by

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillins, procaine, or aminoglycosides

  • Severe renal failure

  • Should not be used concurrently with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides, and lincosamides

Side effects

  • The use of procaine penicillin G in pigs can cause abortion

  • Toxic effects on the ear, nervous system, and kidneys are possible.

  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity)

Dosage and administration

Intramuscular (IM).

  • Usual dose: 1 ml / 10 kg body weight, every 72 hours

  • If necessary, it can be applied every 48 hours as prescribed by a veterinarian.

Important notes:

  • Shake well before use.

  • Maximum per injection site:

    • Cattle: 20 ml

    • Calves, sheep, goats: 5 ml

    • Pig: 10 ml
