Florfenicol – is a thiamphenicol derivative, where the hydroxyl group replaced by a fluorine atom. This structural change makes it against chloramphenicol-resistant bacteria also makes it effective.

Laboratory tests have shown that florfenicol is effective in pigs. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Haemophilus parasuis, Pasteurella multocida bacteria; in birds Enterobacter spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella multocida, Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. It has a high effect against bacteria.
