    The combination of sulfadiazine and trimethoprim has synergistic and bactericidal action against a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and erythromycin even broadens the range to\u00a0E. coli<\/i>,\u00a0Pasteurella<\/i>\u00a0spp.,\u00a0Salmonella<\/i>\u00a0spp.,\u00a0Staphylococcus<\/i>\u00a0spp.,\u00a0Streptococcus<\/i>\u00a0spp.,\u00a0Haemophilus paragallinarum<\/i>,\u00a0Campylobacter<\/i>\u00a0spp.,\u00a0Rickettsia<\/i>\u00a0spp.,\u00a0Chlamydia<\/i>\u00a0spp. and\u00a0Mycoplasma<\/i>\u00a0spp. Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic which binds reversibly to the 50S subunit of ribosomes, resulting in the blockage of transpeptidation or translocation reactions, leading to impaired and\/or inhibited protein synthesis and, hence, to inhibited cell growth. Sulfadiazine and trimethoprim both affect bacterial purine (building blocks of DNA) synthesis in a different stage on the same pathway by inhibiting the metabolism of folic acid which is needed for purine synthesis. As a result, a double blockage is accomplished and cell growth is inhibited. Gallitrim WS is specially indicated against the diseases mentioned below while other antibiotics and chemotherapeutics do not work effectively in cases of resistance problem.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Indications<\/h2>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Gallitrim WS is indicated for the treatment of general infections of the urogenital, digestive and respiratory tract caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria or\u00a0Mycoplasma<\/i>\u00a0spp. in foals, calves, pigs and poultry.<\/p>\n

    Foals and calves: Respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.
    \nPigs: Colibacillosis, scours, enteritis, enzootic pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, APP,
    \natrophic rhinitis, MMA-complex and salmonellosis.
    \nPoultry: CRD (Mycoplasma<\/i>\u00a0infections), infectious diseases due to\u00a0S. aureus<\/i>, bronchopneumonia, pullorum disease, fowl typhoid, cholera, septicaemia, enteritis, coryza and pasteurellosis, prevention and treatment of coccidiosis.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Contraindications<\/h2>\n

    Hypersensitivity to erythromycin, sulfonamides and\/or trimethoprim.
    \nAdministration to animals with a seriously impaired renal and\/or hepatic function or with blood dyscrasias.
    \nConcurrent administration of tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.<\/p>\n

    Dosage<\/h2>\n

    For oral administration.<\/p>\n

    Foals and calves: \u00a0 7.5 g per 50 kg body weight per day via drinking water for 3 – 6 days.
    \nPigs: \u00a0 \u00a0 1 – 2 g per 10 kg body weight per day via drinking water for 3 – 6 days.
    \nPoultry: 1 kg per 2000 liters of drinking water for 5 days.<\/p>\n

    Note: for pre-ruminant calves only.<\/p>\n

    After mixing the product with drinking water it should be used within 24 hours.<\/p>\n

    Withdrawal Times<\/h2>\n

    – For meat:
    \nCalves and pigs: 10 days.
    \nPoultry: 12 days.
    \n– For eggs: 10 days.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
