Amprocox Oral

Composition and Analysis

Amprolium 40% Oral Solution

Ingredients
In every 1 ml:
Amprolium (as hydrochloride) – 400 mg

Description
Amprolium is an anticoccidial drug belonging to the thiamine (vitamin B1) analogues family. It acts as a competitive antagonist of thiamine in the thiamine transport mechanisms of Eimeria spp., disrupting carbohydrate metabolism, which is essential for the growth and survival of coccidia. Coccidia that take amprolium starve and suffer from malnutrition due to thiamine deficiency. Amprolium is rapidly excreted from the body, mainly in the feces, and to a lesser extent in the urine.

Instructions for Use
Amprocox Oral is used for the treatment of intestinal coccidiosis caused by Eimeria spp. susceptible to Amprolium in chickens (broilers, pullets, layers and breeders) and turkeys.

Prohibitions
It should not be used for prophylactic treatment.

Side Effects

  • Overdose can cause weight loss and polyneuritis in broilers.

  • Long-term high-dose administration can lead to thiamine deficiency (anorexia, depression, fatigue, diarrhea) and, in severe cases, neurological symptoms.

  • In case of overdose, thiamine should be administered parenterally or orally.

  • Long-term and frequent use may lead to drug resistance.

  • Concomitant administration with products containing B-complex vitamins may reduce the effect of Amprolium.

  • After the treatment period, the water supply system should be cleaned to prevent subtherapeutic doses of the active ingredient.

  • The product should not be used in contact with metal pipes or containers.

Dosage

  • It is administered orally, with drinking water.

  • General dosage: 20 mg/kg body weight per day, for 5-7 days.
