Composition and Analysis
Sulfadiazine 40% & Trimethoprim 8% Water Soluble Powder
Ingredients (per gram of powder):

Sulfadiazine (as sodium salt) – 400 mg

Trimethoprim – 80 mg
Description:
The combination of sulfadiazine and trimethoprim has a synergistic effect and is usually bactericidal against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. These bacteria include:
E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp.
Areas of use:
Treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections caused by bacteria sensitive to sulfadiazine and trimethoprim:
In calves, sheep, goats, pigs and birds E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. prevention and treatment of infections caused by.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to trimethoprim and/or sulfonamides

Do not use in animals with severely impaired renal and/or hepatic function.

Use in animals with blood disorders (dyscrasias) is prohibited.
Side effects:

During long-term and high-dose use crystalluria (crystals in the urine) may form

If symptoms of crystalluria (bloody urine, kidney pain) are observed, treatment should be stopped immediately and an increase in the solubility of sulfadiazine in the urine, for example, sodium carbonate (urine alkalinizer), should be administered.

The risk of blood disorders increases with prolonged use: anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia can be observed
Dosage and administration:
It is given orally.

Calves, sheep and goats:
Twice a day, 5 grams per 100 kg of body weight, for 4–7 days -
Pigs and birds:
1 kg per 1500–2500 liters of drinking water, for 4–7 days
Note: Only for calves, lambs and goats with immature ruminal systems.
